Energy-Play for your Lil' Witchlet
In this exercise, we are going to introduce feeling energy in a physical form to the budding witchlets! This can be a very fun and exciting lesson to go through. As you are teaching, remember to be encouraging, and above all, be positive! Remember that whatever energies you’re feeling will be passed to your children through these exercises. Please meditate, ground, center and balance before any energy play is started!
Lesson 1
What is energy?
Energy is the life force that flows through all living things. It is in the wind, rain, snow, sun, plants, animals and even us! Anyone in the world can feel energy. You might even do it already without knowing it! Have you ever been in a room with a sick person? Maybe you started to feel tired, or grumpy? And when you left the room how did you feel? I know that I’ve been in that situation, and I usually feel better the farther away from the sick person I go! That’s energy! The person who is sick is giving off energies that tell how he or she is feeling at the time. Most people can pick up on these energies without even doing anything.
Sometimes, though, it takes more practice than just being in the same room as someone else. So, we’re going to work on learning how to feel energy with our hands. The first thing that we need to figure out is which hand you use more often; your right hand or your left hand.
We’ll just assume that you are right handed (if you are left handed, just switch the word right for the word left in this exercise, and vise-versa). This means that you are right-hand dominant. That’s a really fancy way to say that your right hand is stronger than your left hand. We’re going to use this hand to push energy, and we’ll use the left hand to pull. That is your recessive hand. Let’s try an experiment:
Take both of your hands, and rub them together real fast. Do this for about 30 seconds. When you’re done, put your hands about an inch or two apart. Can you feel anything? What does it feel like?
Hopefully, you felt tingling, heat, vibration, or another physical reaction. If you did, you just felt energy! Keep practicing this exercise, and pretty soon you won’t even need to rub your hands to feel it! You’ll just be able to put your hands near each other and feel it!
1. What is energy?
2. What does right hand dominant, or left hand dominant mean?
3. What does your dominant hand do?
4. What does your recessive hand do?
5. What does the energy feel like to you?
Lesson 2
Moving Energy
Ok, so now we’ve practiced feeling energy, and whether you know it or not, you’ve also practiced creating energy! By rubbing your hands together you’ve created kinetic energy, which is energy made by moving objects. Now it’s time to try to move that energy from hand to hand.
Using the technique you’ve been practicing, create a little bit of energy with your hands. With your recessive hand, try to pull that energy closer to that hand. This takes a bit of practice, so don’t get discouraged if you don’t get it right away. Keep practicing and you’ll have it in no time! Sometimes it’s easier to close your eyes and visualize or “see” with your mind, the energy that you are trying to move. You can see it as lightning, a rainbow, a ribbon, or anything that you think is easy to maneuver. Just keep it simple and see if this technique works well for you.
Once you can pull the energy, try pushing it with your dominant hand. Keep practicing! This exercise is super important to furthering your magical abilities.
Since every living thing is made up of energy, the ability to manipulate, or change, that energy plays a very powerful role in ritual and spell work.
1. What is kinetic energy?
2. What does your recessive hand do?
3. What does your dominant hand do?
4. What does it mean to visualize?
5. Name two techniques that you can visualize energy?
6. Why is energy play important?
Lesson 3
Holding energy
Ok, so with practice, you have learned to create energy, and to move that energy with your hands. Now we’re going to learn how to hold that energy, and to store it for future use. This is especially important during ritual or spell work. Think about it; If you’re doing a ritual that really is full of power and uplifting spiritual experiences, wouldn’t it be great to hang on to that energy and use it if you’re having a bad day? Or if someone you know needs a boost? Guess what? You can!
It’s all a matter of using the lessons that you’ve learned so far. Let’s re-cap:
We learned how to feel and create energy by rubbing our hands together and to be receptive to that energy. If you’ve kept up with practicing, you should be able to create energy without rubbing your hands together. Try just placing your hands a few inches apart to see if you can feel that energy. Keep practicing!
Next, we learned how to move the energy that we created by using our recessive and dominant hands. By now you should be able to move energy from side to side fairly easily. Again, keep practicing!
Now, we’re going to use the forces that our hands have to hold energy in a stable position for as long as we can. Create a small amount of energy between your hands by using your recessive hand to pull energy from your dominant hand. Once you have a golf ball sized ball of energy between your hands, stop pulling with your recessive hand. You can continue to push with your dominant hand, but don’t make the ball any bigger. Just use that pushing force to spin the ball that you have. Once again, keep practicing this (are we noticing a pattern here?)!!!
Once you have a ball that you’ve played with for a few minutes, take both of your hands around the ball, and move it to your solar plexus, or stomach. Push that ball through your skin and deep into your stomach. There are several names for this “storage center” and we’ll go over some of these names in a future lesson, as well as how to access and retrieve this stored energy, but for right now, just practice doing the exercises that we’ve gone over for now.
1. Create and store energy using the methods above.
Parents: Don’t be concerned with the storage of energy in your child. This energy, without further and proper training will naturally dissipate. As I stated earlier in the lesson, please only do these exercises in a calm and relaxed environment, so that the energies that are created and stored by your little ones will be calm and relaxed energy. The last thing that you want is for your child to have angry, hyper, excited, or distractable energy pent up inside them!!
As with all our lessons, have fun, and feel free to adapt the lesson according to what you feel is best for your kids.
Blessed Be!
